§ 7283a. Statement of purpose

  • It is the purpose of this subpart— (1) to promote gender equity in education in the United States; (2) to provide financial assistance to enable educational agencies and institutions to meet the requirements of title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 [20 U.S.C. 1681 et seq.]; and (3) to promote equity in education for women and girls who suffer from multiple forms of discrimination based on sex, race, ethnic origin, limited English proficiency, disability, or age.

The Educational Amendments of 1972, referred to in par. (2), probably means the Education Amendments of 1972 which is Pub. L. 92–318, June 23, 1972, 86 Stat. 235, as amended.
